Come listen to a talk by Etta Willson, Rita Colbert, Linneall Naylor, Rondia Prescott with Jenee Lindner -- the authors of Black Communities of Fairfax: A History.

Written by Fairfax County descendants, this important work celebrates their ancestors in their once segregated neighborhoods of Fairfax City and Fairfax County, Virginia, including their role in

  • Local African American cemetery preservation
  • the Little River Turnpike
  • Rosenwald School
  • 1935 Fairfax County trial with African American jurors
  • Fighting segregation through churches, NAACP, and other local minority organizations
